Mobile Application;Demographics of the Growing Trends

The popularity of mobiles applications have exploded within the recent years. The Number of apps up to date is rapidly increasing. Currently there are 225000 Apple apps, 70000 Android Apps, 72000 Black Berry Apps, 13000 Ovi Apps and 11000 iPad apps. The number is rapidly increasing because of the use of smart phones and the need of everybody. Another statistic that shows this is a growing trend is the fact the iPhone can get over 1 billion download within the last two months. Calculating this in terms of days is, 16.7 Million downloads per day! Apple the most famous app creators have paid over $1 billion to iOS apps developers and the average paid iPhone app has sold around 101024 copies within the lifetime of 261 days. Around 7% of users have spent over $50 within the past three months; this is a lot of money that the app creators are getting.   This is the current trend of where the market is leading towards. Around 60% of developers have recently created an Android app because of how effective Mobile apps are in the current days. Supporting this statement, over 70% of iPhone developers are planning on releasing an Android app within the next 6 months.

One prime example of the success of a Mobile app is the ever so entertaining game “Angry Birds”. This game has over 6.5 Million sales on the App store and within these sales there are 200,000 sales of this app sold for $4.99 on the iPad app store. It has grown very popular and has 6 million views on youtube videos about the game.

Another entertaining game is called, Tap Tap Revenge. This game has been download 35 Million time and is rapidly increasing. It has currently generated 5 million song sales and are creating 500,000 new download on tracks every week.

The Mobile Apps are not only made for gaming. eBay has made an iPhone app that have been downloaded 11 Million times since July 2010.Within the release date and the end of the year 2010, eBay expects to make a profit of $1.5 Billion just from the mobile transactions alone.  This has increased the profit in 2009 which was only $600 Million.

Mobile Applications is a serious business, and is an ever growing trend. Most people you see walking on the streets and playing with their phone are most likely texting or on an applications since Mobile Apps can be accessed anywhere as long as you have a Mobile Phone with them. This new age of technology is demanding more focus on the Mobile applications, since it is a rapidly increasing market.
